Moving Towards a more Mindful Consumption

FOMCA's National Consumer Campaign 2008-2012 had hit UTP in gosh, I don't know how long has passed, but I just had to post it up. Personally in these times of economical crisis ( I assume there's a problem cause everyone is talking about how there's an economical crisis nowadays or something) the only two things that affect me are the price of gas and a pack of smokes. But things are looking pretty bleak in the future what with all the climate problems, food prices sky-rocketing, water shortage, people being layed-off of work and little new jobs opening up over the years. Things are looking pretty bad for us, especially those of us who're still studying.

So, worried as the government is, they decided to send here a few important messages to all you out there.

Mindful consumptions include:

-Planning one's purchases
-Budgeting and sticking to one's budget
-Using public transport
-Eating more fruits and vegetables instead of processed foods
-Switching to generic brands
-Reducing luxuries and impulse buying
-Optimize water and energy use
-Growing one's own vegetables

Well, there you go. Pretty boring stuff that you'll go on and say "Dude, I already know that, you've wasted ten minutes of your life writing this piece of crap,". Yeah, well we wouldn't be having a financial problem today if we did follow these simple rules(that, and I was pretty much forced to do this thread). I mean think about it, as citizens, pretty much everybody blames the government once gas rises up by a few cents, when in actuality, we created this predicament ourselves through the science of demand and supply. So if you're like me and you want those smokes cheap, you best start changing your spending lifestyle.

VINTAGE

Salam/hi!

Do you ever think want to wear something that your grandparents wear? Of course you might think you wont right? But the fact is that is what happens nowadays. Maybe you might think the fashion is not up-to-date, not contemporary, not urban, but there is something special about vintage fashion. Vintage clothing is refer to clothing either it is new or second hand but originating from previous a previous era. Vintage starts from 20s until 80s. For your information, clothing made before the 1920s are considered antique, while clothing made after 80s to mid-90s are considered retro.

Wearing original vintage is an appreciation the roles previous generation. Other than that, is also the appreciation to skills of respected fashion designers. Vintage fashion is unique. The clothes or the accessories were custom made. Some of it just produced in small quantity only. There is a good chance you can find the original version of that style in a vintage item from that era. However, when you purchase the original vintage piece, you are getting something that cannot be found at every chain store by the thousands. It is a limited, if not one of a kind, item just for you. In addition, the clothes also have a good quality. Many of the unusual older fabric types are no longer manufactured, or are now prohibitively expensive. There is a lot more done by hand in the manufacturing of vintage clothing, where as the same procedures like adding buttons and detailing are done by machines today.

Vintage is not ordinary clothes. Do you believe if I said vintage is actually environmentally friendly? Let’s figure it out.

Wearing Vintage Clothing is Recycling!
Every time you buy or wear vintage clothing instead of newly manufactured clothing you are recycling. That clothing is getting a second chance and being saved from the landfill every time you wear it. With an average of 11.8 million tons of clothing per year getting thrown away, you can rest easy knowing you won’t be making a 68 pound contribution to that number like the average American does.

Vintage Clothing Uses Less Resources
For every new item of clothing that is made, there is a substantial carbon footprint left behind by its manufacturing. There's the fuel used to manufacture materials, fuel to transport materials to factories, fuel to power the factories machines, fuel to ship the finished product; it all adds up to a pretty large amount for something so small. The amount of energy needed to produce vintage clothing is zero. Plus, since most vintage retailers buy wholesale in bulk from rag houses , the cost to transport those items ends up being only a fraction of a cent.

Vintage Clothing is Healthier
Vintage clothing is healthier for you and for the planet. The dyes, chemicals, and processes used to produce wrinkle resistant, colorfast, soft, unshrinkable clothing are not what anyone would call eco-friendly. Often the waste from manufacturing clothing like jeans is dumped into the water supply in whatever third world country their manufacturing facility is.

Actually, they are many new designer design clothes with vintage style but using the new material. Usually vintage is collected by someone who likes it. The easiest way to find vintage clothes is go to your grandparent’s wardrobe, and find it. Vintage is very special and have many advantages right?

Now, let’s shop vintage!

Best la citer nie..CGI dye mmg terbaik , pastu ade 3D. sbb tu lain dr citer alice yg biasa.Bagi korang yg x tgk lagi, gmbr dye macam citer Avatar, tp jalan crite x best sgt.

Anonymous ;
Citer nie not bad laa..actually lebih kpd kelakar. mcm watak White Queen tu cam blur2 sket. Overall ok n gmbr sgt cntik..

Overall;
Its a good movie, not about the storyline which is fine because we all already know Alice in Wonderland since ages. But it is uique as it is in 3D and the development of the character itself.

Eco Drum Circle

Salam/hi,

In this Soundcheck post, we will make a review on a very unique group of performers. The ECO DRUM CIRCLE (EDC)! What is so unique about EDC? Well guess what? They play musics with 'special instruments' which consist of recycled items bottles, pails, tin cans and many more!

The Eco Drum Circle team

Under the famous non-profit organization Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA), EDC was pioneered by Afiq Safwan Adly in 2007. The idea came when he saw that a lot of youth nowadays are wasting their time without benefit. So by creating activity like EDC, teenagers can have fun while contributing to the environment.

Afiq Safwan Adly, the EDC pioneer

With the motto 'Recycling is not only important,it can be fun!', The EDC team perform unexpected great music even by only using recycled items, while spreading the message of environmental awareness to our community.

The goodness of recycled rythms

EDC had gained a lot of reputation not only in local but also in international level. They had once represented Malaysia in an event called World Drum Festival in 2007. They also had performed in Indonesia's event under Tunas Hijau and in Perth, Australia under Millennium Kids event, The Millennium Kids Footprints Conference.

The EDC perfoming at Karnival Putrajaya 2010

Anyway, for EDC it is not about fame or popularity. But it is all about the message that they convey, and also team building and social skills among their members and also the community.

YAWA Eco Drum Circle Camp

For your information, YAWA offers special camp for those who are interested in this kind of activities and the camp is named 'The Eco Drum Circle Camp'. This camp instill environment awareness, leadership qualities, team building and also, fun of course! The latest camp was held last January 2010 in Bukit Lagong, Selayang. Malaysia Team & Super League in PES10!

Salam/hi.

How are you guys doing? I hope you are fine. Well, now we the AGEzine! committees as we are students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, are currently on our mid-sem break. Holiday mood, huh? Hoho. So in order to relax a bit why don't we take some time playing games? :)

I guess most of you know Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) . One of the two most popular soccer games other than FIFA. The fight is still on between these two, especially on their latest editions; PES10 and FIFA10 to decide which is the best. However, for me myself, I think both are standing equally on the same level. PES10 with great quality on graphics, player faces, movements and skills but lacking on license issues whereby not all of the players or teams are available, while FIFA10 with its great turf texture, stadium and numbers of team available due to its licensing rights but a little disappointment in gameplay I'd say, personally.

http://www.fileplay.net/content_images/0000/3446/pes-2010-konami.jpghttp://cdn.epltalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/fifa10_boxart.jpg

I play PES10. Good thing about it is its got a massive group of community behind it that works on patches and many other improvements for this very game. Plus, the game editing tools are even available on the Internet and it's very easy to learn how to use them. I can say that almost everything on this game is editable but please be reminded on the copyright issues. Hehe.

What makes me thrilled the most so far is some locals have been working hard to build a Malaysia national soccer team in this game. Almost all the players with real faces. So cool. Hehe. They've even build the Malaysia Super League! What a great gift for local soccer lovers, aite? Hoho. So for PES and local soccer arena lovers, don't miss the chance in playing our national teams and leagues like never before, download and execute all the necessary patches and instruction here; http://chengazrin.blogspot.com/ or here or here. :)

How To Install Ubuntu on your PC

Salam/Hi,

Guys we meet again in this D.I.Y segment, previously we explored photography and editing skills in our last post. This time around, we will learn on how to install Ubuntu. I guess, a lot of you guys here, want to try to use this open source Operating System(OS) and maybe some of you here are already using it.

Below I will show you guys a short tutorial on how to install it along with some
screen shots..you know, to make things clear. But seriously, it's really simple.

1. Insert Ubuntu the installation disk into your CD drive, maybe some of you may have to modify your boot up sequence to make sure it will boot properly.

2. Then choose your installation language to continue to the next step, after that another window will appear and will ask you about your time zone. Just choose any option from the menu provided.

3. Next step is to select your hard drive or any partition that you want to install Ubuntu, you can have two OS in the same hard drive at the same time.
If you want to format your previous partition, you may do so, but remember to back up all your data. Or else, you'll end up clearing all of your data.

4. After that, choose the keyboard layout. Different regions usually use different layouts, so you can try some of the selections provided by using the small text box that will appear at the bottom of your screen.

5. Next, key in your desired user name and password, you will use this user name and password to access your PC later, so make sure you remember what you type.

6. After that, the installation will proceed and install the OS, you have to wait a few minutes, to make sure the installation is complete. Then, the setup will ask for a system reboot, to complete the installation, click restart now, and let your PC reboot. Make sure you remove the CD in the disk drive before you reboot.

Now, if you see this screen, you've already completed the installation and can continue entering your user name to use your new OS. And oh, have a drink after that. Congratulate yourself!

If you want a copy for you, click here to download. Go on. Its free!

Microsoft Surface

Salam/Hi!

On the last post we checked out Trampe, the bicycle escalator. Pretty cool stuff right? Now I'm gonna talk about another pretty damn cool stuff called the Microsoft Surface. You probably know of the Apple Ipad right? And now its the hype of tech junkies everywhere. Well, this was Microsoft's 'Ipad', albeit a huge one.

Basically, it looks like this. A table top with a large multi-touch surface.

Microsoft Surface is actually a new invention from Microsoft (or at least it was way back in 2008). It is a revolutionary multi-touch computer that responds to natural hand gestures and real world objects. With a large, horizontal user interface, Surface offers a unique gathering place where users can collaboratively interact with data and each other.

For users, Microsoft Surface signifies a fundamental change in the way we interact with digital content. Leave the keyboard and mouse behind. Just grab the digital content with hands to move information with simple touches. Surface also acts together with objects to enable us to transfer data between devices like mobiles and phone.

For business purposes, it provides a huge potential to improve communication, and increases efficiency in how they deliver information and services to their customers. The multi-touch and multi-users capabilities create an amazingly mutual experience, where sharing and exploring information is easier than ever.

What makes Microsoft Surface is unique and incredible impressive? First, the direct interaction with users without using any mouse and keyboard. Second, the large, horizontal, 30 inches display provides a collaborative, face-to-face computing experience. Third, the multi-touch screen which responds to many points of contact simultaneously. And the last is object recognition which trigger different types of digital response.

Microsoft Surface uses cameras and image recognition in the infrared spectrum to recognize different types of objects like fingers, tagged items and shapes. This input is then processed by the computer and the resulting interaction is displayed using rear projection. The users can manipulate content and interact with the computer using natural hand touches and gestures which then results in a fun, social and exciting experience you have never had before.
