Guys we meet again in this D.I.Y segment, previously we explored photography and editing skills in our last post. This time around, we will learn on how to install Ubuntu. I guess, a lot of you guys here, want to try to use this open source Operating System(OS) and maybe some of you here are already using it.
Below I will show you guys a short tutorial on how to install it along with some
screen shots..you know, to make things clear. But seriously, it's really simple.
1. Insert Ubuntu the installation disk into your CD drive, maybe some of you may have to modify your boot up sequence to make sure it will boot properly.
2. Then choose your installation language to continue to the next step, after that another window will appear and will ask you about your time zone. Just choose any option from the menu provided.
3. Next step is to select your hard drive or any partition that you want to install Ubuntu, you can have two OS in the same hard drive at the same time.
If you want to format your previous partition, you may do so, but remember to back up all your data. Or else, you'll end up clearing all of your data.
4. After that, choose the keyboard layout. Different regions usually use different layouts, so you can try some of the selections provided by using the small text box that will appear at the bottom of your screen.
5. Next, key in your desired user name and password, you will use this user name and password to access your PC later, so make sure you remember what you type.
6. After that, the installation will proceed and install the OS, you have to wait a few minutes, to make sure the installation is complete. Then, the setup will ask for a system reboot, to complete the installation, click restart now, and let your PC reboot. Make sure you remove the CD in the disk drive before you reboot.
Now, if you see this screen, you've already completed the installation and can continue entering your user name to use your new OS. And oh, have a drink after that. Congratulate yourself!
